Ensembles, New Additions and General Happenings Around the Fairy Grotto

So going off what I said yesterday I tried to put a bit of effort into my outfit today, tossing on what is currently probably my favourite wardrobe pieces; plus I did my make up!

Nothing you guys haven't seen before but I am so in love with this skirt and the new Black Milk XL sizing is so comfortable I never want to take these Chopin leggings off.

I can't wait for these, ever since they were sneak peeked a few months ago I've been dying to get them on my legs.

 

 Also, new ASOS order arrived today; a first from them for me.

It was a leather skirt which I got on sale for a bargain of less than 60 bucks. But yeah, it is real leather so vegans/vegos should note that in case they wanted to buy their own. They do have plenty of varieties of veggie-friendly, faux-leather options however.

Sorry about the constant crappines of my photos but my computer can't handle having any more photos on it and my SLR ones are huge files plus the light in my house is complete shit.



In other news my ability to read for long periods of time seems to be returning (who knew that anaesthetic had such a bad reaction 0.o) So I've started this book ...again, hoping this time I can get through it. I normally don't read that much modern stuff however I for some reason was put on to a series by the same other by a friend and hoped this would be as attention-grabbing. So far it's a bit so-so but I do believe it's getting better!



Moving on, I just found a cute little reference to me in this lovely blog that I'm probably the last to discover :P It's called Dark Side of the Net and the post mentioning me and my little place on the interwebs is here. Thank you kind stranger for the mention and for reading! ^_^

P.s. Readers do my pictures appear blurry to you? I'm not sure what's going on but for some reason even though I know the pics aren't blurry they show up as such on my blog. If you open them in their own window/tab they come into focus though; it's really weird and frankly it's pissing me off! Anyone got any advice/comments?

P.p.s. I'm approaching 200 posts, do people usually do something special for these kind of milestones?

Edit: Until I can figure out why stupid blogger makes all my photos blurry when they're resized I've had to make them smaller but if you click on them and open them in a new window they appear much larger and clear. Birthday Book Buying and Recent Wardrobe Additions

Today dad and I went into town to buy Mum a birthday present (it was yesterday, Happy Birthday Mumsie!). Dad and I were going to get her a book each but one of them that I had intended on buying couldn't be found for the life of us. So anyone we got her the one book and in the mean time part two of her present is on order and should arrive late next week.

New Saxony shirt in blue-grey colour. Fits lovely, so comfortable I fell asleep in it.

My aunt was kind enough to pop these Peter Alexander slippers in the mail as a get well gift after my recent surgery; so cosy!



Another Saxony shirt, this one was featured in my last OOTD. A bargain on eBay at $10. Now that I've had my first taste of wearing men's fitted shirts, I never want to go back to women's. Finally, no tightness across the shoulders and sleeves that actually reach my wrists; the joy!



Skeleton Garters from Noctex; can be worn with the clips facing up or down either to keep dresses/skirts down or to keep socks up.

Plus there's the jacket in the above outfit pic, another ebay score BNWT, love it!

The Righteous Bison

Our tale today takes place over a year ago whilst I was in my second year of uni at ANU in Canberra. Whilst shopping for textbooks in the on campus Co-Op, I happened across a charming book by the name of Dr. Grordbort Presents Victory: Scientific Adventure Violence for Young Men and Literate Women. It might be wise to note that although I have been interested in the steampunk scene for quite an amount of time, and elements of it well before I knew what steampunk was, it wasn't for quite a while after that I decided to start actively participating as a member of the subculture.

Stumbling upon this was my first exposure to the collections of Doctor Grordbort and thus began an insatiable lust towards the brand's ray guns. I um'd and ahh'd about whether or not to buy the book as cool as it was because as you can understand, a uni student's budget doesn't exactly allow for such luxuries. However I soon discovered something that made up my mind for me. It just so happened that there was a competition going on at the shop that month, that for each copy of 'Victory' sold the buyer got an entry into a draw for one of aforementioned ray guns. So naturally I had to enter.

I'm fairly sure that the model that was up for grabs was The Righteous Bison Indivisible Particle Smasher.



It turned out that only about 3 people, or some ridiculously low number around there entered the competition including myself and a friend of mine, Mitch. Naturally it was fate I would win right?

Wrong.

:P

Sorry to disappoint. Mitch won however, and he definitely was my second choice! :P However I'm writing this post today mainly to remind myself to buy one of these in August when they come back in stock in their New Zealand warehouse. (Thing is though, I would buy from the UK one but the postage would cost two and a half times what the actual ray gun itself costs! Bitch, please. I ain't payin' that!) That and to make everyone out there who isn't already aware of the existence of the magnificent feats of creativity!

So what else is new in the life of the Green Fairy? Well The Steampunk NSW Australia crew have been busy organising a big event for November going by the name of Drifting in Time: A Paddlewheel Adventure. It's going to be a Steampunk sci-fi themed ball! Anyway, I've been doing quite a bit of research for my costume over the last few days as I'm planning to go as my own take on some kind of steampunk'd borg drone. (If you don't know what a borg drone is kindly GTFO :P just kidding, but seriously...google that shit man.) Anyway so I'm planning on commissioning a custom version of one of Dominic Elvin Design's cybernetic head systems for my costume as well as wearing my Black Milk new liquids tights and adorning a crap load of corrugated tubing.

Don't Fence Me In..

Though in this case I may have to be fenced in, that is until I can get my shopping addiction in check...Sigh.

Did you know that shopping triggers the same Dopamine receptors that things like chocolate and heroin do? So, it seriously can be an addiction. If they try and make me go to rehab, I won't go go go...Mainly because I have no money to afford it because I spent it all on my latest fix :P


Anyway! Must be moving on!


My dad came in this afternoon just before I took off to work with a dead butterfly (Sadface is sad :( I know) But it was still just as beautiful in death as I imagine it would have been in life, so I snapped a shot. It was massive!

Anyway, as I mentioned before I'll be away for Easter. I'll be taking my computer with me but I'm not sure if I'll get a chance/feel the need to blog whilst there but we'll see.

We Will Be Victorious

Howdy my lovely readers, I hope you're all well! I'm back at work after my trip to Canberra on the weekend, and I had a blast. I will post some photos once my friend's upload them, but till then you'll have to deal with me just doing this little in-between post.


So I recently ordered a Piggy D shirt and it arrived today! Naturally I wore it to work, and I absolutely love the colours. So bright and fun! I got it at his Black Victory store. I've seen some of Piggy's one of kind clothing creations before, and they're very good. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any pieces for sale currently. He also sold his own pants on ebay recently! If I'd had a spare $1000 I might have bought them myself :P



Oh and I s'pose I should mention that Piggy D is currently the bassist for Rob Zombie, and also has his own music under his name. He's played for a number of bands in the past like Wednesday 13 and Alice Cooper too I think. Also his wife, Gabrielle is an awesome photographer! I've been a fan of both of them for several years and I'm lucky enough to be seeing Rob Zombie live in early March, and therefore Piggy D too! Hoorah! I'm most excited and I'll endeavour to take lots of pictures of my 5 days in Melbourne.
