God Save the Queen Bee

Here's a few more pics from Spirit of Distinction that peeps have added to facebook.

I so want a pair of these

Also Kitty Lovett and I were talking about meeting up with other Aussie goth bloggers and the like. She has organised a little event in Sydney for September and I hopefully will be attending! I will be moving in September to a new city AND a new state, so if I managed to get organised in time then I will definitely be there!

That's the Spirit

So I had an unbelievably grand weekend just gone, heading out to the Steampunk/Neo-Victorian themed train ride, Spirit of Distinction on Saturday evening. I drove down to Lithgow in the late afternoon, dressed myself in the car park and just made it in time.

It was around -3 degress celcius at the event; absolutely freezing! For you guys out there that don't use celcius, that's about 26 degrees Fahrenheit (and it's not even Winter here yet!). Despite the conditions, everyone was chipper, friendly and extremely welcoming. Although I'm quite confident around people I'm used to, I sometimes get a little shy around strangers; especially when I'm on my own. People seemed to notice I was alone and kindly invited me to join in their conversations and to hang our in the carriages. I've never met so many people at an event before and am almost in denial about how lovely everyone was :). I was even lucky enough to be introduced to a few funky folks from Melbourne town, so hopefully I'll be able to catch up with them when I move down there in a few months.

Furthermore, I was given the privlidge of riding in the engine car for the first half of the trip thanks to a friend of mine, Tom who works at the railway from time to time. He was very patient with me struggling along in the dark in my skyscraper heels and climbing into the car and I appreciated it very much :). Thanks Tom if you're reading this!

Outfit preparation

Seeing as the trip to the Zigzag railway was a little way away and I thought I was running late, I just pulled out everything I might possibly wear, shoved everything in bags and chucked the bags in the car.

I can't be bothered writing down where everything is from, so if you have a specific question about one of the items just comment and I'll let you know :)

I hadn't really thought about my make up much prior to the event, and decided to just go with something very simple. I didn't take a photo because I wasn't sure it'd show up. I used green mascara and a pale shimmer with a slight green hue brushed over the eyelid and brow bone. Sharp eyebrow curves and no eye-liner as well.

Needless to say, I can't wait for the next one! Thank you everyone for your contributions to probably the best night out I've had all year ^_^

In other news my parents took of yesterday morning for 3 weeks so I'm at home being all responsible. So seeing as I'll be home this weekend, I figure I might try and do a makeup tutorial. It's been a while since I've seen any makeup I've really felt the urge to attempt to duplicate until now!

Of course you guys would all know Adora Batbrat, and as lovely as she is I think I have a bit more of a innocent fangirl crush on her pretty sister, Jenni. The pictures of Jenni's makeup in some of Adora's more recent blog posts of their modelling trip to Germany are just fantastic! It's probably got something to do with Adora and her sister's current green-themed personal presentation... Oh and I fucking love her eyebrows to death, I even asked her how she does them in case she used a stencil. We shared a little joke about selling her eyebrow shape on ebay :P. *fangirl squeal*

Also I may have just bought these contact lenses... *innocent* I know own 4 pairs of contact lenses; three of them are green shades :P

Anyway, I think that may be about all for tonight. Oh and for all you aussies out there if you have any friends in Melbourne let them know that a happy-go-lucky goth is looking for a place to live in you don't mind!

Over and out!

p.s. My Hogwarts letter arrived today. Must've got lost in the mail. FOR 9 YEARS.

Less Talk, More Rawk

Hello Readers!

I hope everyone is well. I had a lovely weekend just gone packed full of action as I figured I might not be up to a huge one for a while. This is because my works hours were almost doubled and thus I am quite exhausted already and it’s only Wednesday.

I spent Saturday finishing off the Bleach episodes I had on my hard drive (and now I’m craving more but have no way of attaining them!) and then was saved from a boring evening by my friend Todd who invited me up to his place about 50 minutes away for a sort of un-official house warming. His little terrace-style place has heaps of charm and so many fire places! His walk-in-robe is big enough to be a bedroom (and in fact, I slept in there) and they even have a cupboard under the stairs; Harry Potter style! I tried to nap in there, but found my 6 foot + frame was a little cramped. :P

So after a few drinks at Todd’s, we headed out to a quaint little pub we we spent the rest of the night. The next morning I headed home and got ready for afternoon tea with two of my friends from work.

Shannon and I headed over to Jodie’s place in the afternoon where we got up to all sorts of mischief with Jodie’s menagerie of children and animals. Much fun! And the afternoon tea goodies were delicious. :D

Thanks for a lovely time!

Following the conclusion of this working week I have the Spirit of Distinction Steampunk train ride which I am looking forward to ever so much! The only thing is I’m not quite sure of what I’m going to wear. I’m also at a loss for ideas regarding hairstyles. I’ve never been that much of a hair styler, as mine is quite thin and ridiculously hard to get results from. I would greatly appreciate any advice or input from you guys out there! Gah I feel for some reason it’s really important to look amazing for this event, as it’s my first steampunk-themed outing and as I’m often a bit of a steampunk elitist (guilty!) I had better start living up to my big mouth I s’pose. :P

I had some sort of idea in my head of my usual take on a deathhawk and then using a stencil and gold temporary coloured hairspray put cogs or something on the sides of my head where my undercut is. I bought some gold spray today and now I have to sort out some sort of cog/gear stencil. I’ve tried spraying stencils in my hair before and it ended up running everywhere and just looking craptacular. I s’pose it might work better this time as I’d actually be spraying on a little bit of hair rather than my bare shaven head and I think it’d be a good idea to get someone else to do the spraying.

In other news my Black Milk tights arrived today (finally)! I tried them all on and I think my favourites are definitely the New Liquids. I think they’d go really well with the Nurse Betty dress I have from GS that has a PVC collar and trim on the sleeves. My only fear is that I’ll become one of my pet peeves that I was ranting a little about on Amy’s post at The Ultimate Goth Guide the other day. My friend and facebook wife, Tea is always telling me that I’d look good in PVC and although I’m not convinced of this, I loved the style of these tights so much I guess I thought I’d take the risk. I suppose if they look really awful they can serve as a motivating factor in me losing some weight.

Oh and guess what? I think my blog's a year old... See the thing is I created it in April last year but I didn't post till mid May, so I'm counting it from then. So my net is slow and I can't be bothered going through pages to find out the date of my first post on If I Only Were a Goth, so let's just say Happy belated/premature birthday to my blog right now. :P Wooo! I admit I am a bit disappointed that I haven't yet reached 100 posts, but then again I did go something like...3 months without posting because of a lack in any internet options out here in the middle of nowhere.

Happy Birthday Bloggie! :D I hope my readers out there continue to enjoy my blog for a long time to come!

Yet Another Tale of An Ever-Growing Wardrobe

I forgot to post a few pics of this lovely little riding jacket I picked up after I had tea with my lovely facebook wife over Easter. I bought it from The Darling Sisters and the jacket is originally from Collectif. I'm so in love with it and plan to wear it to this steampunk train ride event that's coming up in a few weeks at the Lithgow ZigZag Railway. It's called Spirit of Distinction and I'm hoping, despite my lack of acquaintances going, that it will be a glorious and classy event!

Oh and I'm nearly at 10, 000 page views ^_^ Yay!!

That's all,

The Green Fairy
