Procrasta-bloggin'

So I have an inspection for my place tomorrow and I should be doing last minute tidying so obviously that means it's the perfect time to write a blog post :P

I haven't been posting as much lately, which is due to me actually doing some things...plus being kind'a not in the mood to do anything right now. I'm in a massive low at the present and really hit me quite hard after such an extended high (it was so fucking good but I think the whole never stopping for a breath and only sleeping about 4-5 hours a night for months on end really took its toll on my body).

So, some recent happenings;

I went to Sydney to see the National Theatre Live 'Frankenstein' production featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as Frankenstein's Monster and Jonny Lee Miller as the Doctor, and it was un-fucking-believable! It's based loosely on Shelly's novel of the same name.

I can't say I ever did well at drama essays so I know my descriptions of the production will not in one hundred years do it justice but holy fuck, so good. The physicality was such a stand out for me, the only other aspect that was really comparable was the amazing set design. But really...who the fuck can move that well?! Ergh, I just could gush all day but unless you'd also had seen it it wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Just prior to going in feat. Black Milk's Frankenstein's Monster Leggings ;)

Oh! Also should add that there's a tiny steampunk addition that kind'a came out of nowhere and was just phenomenal. I almost leapt from my seat in excitement when it came on screen. Sigh. it's the little things,.

 Fuck. Yes.

I'd also really like to make note of the lovely individual who played the Bride of Frankenstein, of whom I'm almost convinced is actually some supernatural being because I'm quite sure at some points she was floating a centimetre or two off the ground. She moved with such grace and elegance that had I not already been speechless I  most assuredly would have been rendered so by her mere presence.

My only real issue with it was some of the dialogue. I think the actors did iit much more justice than it deserved. I must say that it was a little..contrived and perhaps even corny at times? I dunno..It just wasn't up to par with the rest of the production. Otherwise though, perfection *kisses fingertips and tosses them upward*.

Chums; Richard, Rosemary and myself sitting in a random park in Newtown eating icecream and laughing after Frankenstein.

It was also really amazing seeing some of my friends again. Life and distance really seems to get in the way the older I get but it's comforting to know we're as comfortable around one another as ever.

Okay so what else is happening...Well, for one in Australia right now the weather is horrendous. Seriously, as someone who revels in winter and grins with delight as a bitter wind caresses my face as I walk the streets, this heat is fucking killing me. Ergh! I'm not someone who is commfortable showiing a lot of skin, both because I'm self conscious and because fuck, if I had to cover every inch of my almost 6' frame every day in SPF 50+ I'd be broke in a week. 'Dat shit's expensive, yo'! So, instead I embrace the Slip and Slap a little more than the slop, cladding myself in oversized, long sleeve men's shirts and hiding behind my sunnies and under the brim of my beloved new hat.

(For non-australians a little bit of context for you; we here being the sunburnt country in more ways than one have had a nationally recognised Sun Safety campaign for as long as I can remember that instructs people to Slip on a shirt, Slop on some sunscreen and Slap on a hat - although apparently this has recently been extended to include advise about finding shade and wearing sunglasses too.)

Hiding from the sun under the brim of my new FallenBrokenStreet hat. I really need a haircut.

My style at the moment I would most equate to something described in Macklemore's 'Thrift Shop' but if I manage to give skin cancer the slip, than zero fucks will be given to how mishmashed I look.

Furthermore a new shop opened up in this crap hole they call my town of residence and for once it's actually something I'm vaguely interested in! It's a militaria/adventure gear place and upon spotting it I was overcome with the desire to host a M*A*S*H themed party where you can only wear khaki or olive greens and/or scrubs and/or your bathrobe PLUS you can only drink out of canteens and/or martini glasses. Please, Cthulhu let me have one of these parties and have people actually interested in marathoning episodes of M*A*S*H with me :P (Luke, I'm looking at you).

The store was closed when I spotted it whilst killing some time before my train to Sydney earlier this month but I can't wait to come back to have a real look - Oh my Cthulhu, the things I could do with that pith helmet *heavy breathing*

I'm wondering if mmy veryy recent obsession with olive greens and khakis has been spurred on by this new discovery...Not sure...Don't care...Need. Moar. Olive. Greens.

Aaaaanyway, I've ranted and rambled enough for one post. I hope this was at least vaguely interesting. Lemme know, I need all the ideas and encouragement I can get right now, believe me.

Over and out my lovelies

Halloween Envy

Anyone who lives in Australia (or who might've visited around late October) can tell you that despite that among its (admittedly dwindling) virtues, you will unfortunately not find an enthusiasm for halloween. Obviously this is quite a disappointment to aussie gothlings like myself and many I would speculate that may be reading this right now.

In light of this situation which I would call nothing less than a tragedy, we Aussie goths have to take what little halloween goodies there are to be had wherever we can find them.

Speaking of which, my chums and I stumbled upon the very small Halloween section at our local Big W and I imagine our squees were audible throughout the entire shopping centre. :P

 Orange and black bliss

 Candles!

 Luke checking out dancing Frankenstein

My little haul, my cthulhu, it's pathetic :P

Here's hoping there's more stuff to come out in the few weeks we have remaining before the 31st. I'm sure there's more exciting things in the big cities but alas, this is what we have to work with in the country. :P

Anyway, that's all for now; how are you other aussies faring in the hunt for Halloween stuff?

Being Sick Sucks; What My Day Entailed

So since about Thursday or something last week I've been struck down with some variety of man flu that each day after waking up I've noticed has gotten that slight bit worse. You know the type, not really anything life threatening just general lethargy and a bunch of symptoms that don't actually impede you in a large way from doing anything but make you feel like absolute crap whilst you force yourself through it and as such turn you into the biggest complainy-pants in the universe.

Well today whilst on day 6 or so of this ever-growing pain in the general ears-nose-throat area, I also noticed upon waking that my eyes were oozing some sort of delicious gunk that was just another punch in the face and so despite my doctor-avoiding efforts so far, I kind'a had to pay him a visit today so..you know, I could actually continue to see outta ma' face.

Aaannyway, I decided I'd earned some takeaway food seeing as I was feeling so miserable and so grabbed a meatball sub and some nectar of the gods on the way home and hauled up in the back room on the squishy lounge chair and enjoyed 'Let Me In' or as some (myself included) may know it, the American remake of the masterpiece 'Let the Right One In'. Yes I say masterpiece, I adored it.

To my utter amazement it wasn't god-awful! However that may be due to me being slightly biased because Chloe Moretz starred in it...She's amazing, right? I love her anyhow. So, yes, it wasn't as visually appealing, haunting or as artistic as the original. Nor as romantic. Still, I would recommend it. It's not often Hollywood don't completely fuck something you love up, so take the opportunity whilst it's around. Also I loved the music in this film. I must say, there were times when it bordered on something very akin to Hitchcock and I could literally feel my heart beating against my ribcage. I love when that happens!

Something which I love about both films and which I'm sure some mothers in America would be outside whatever studio produced this waving their rolling pins about in the air in protest about is the way this pre-teen romance (I use the term romance loosely) is portrayed. I'm sure people were up in arms in regard to a naked 12 year old girl sharing a bed with a boy but it's so..funny in a way. Owen is on the cusp of puberty and such has a natural curiosity about the opposite sex yet he's not quite sure what it is he wants because well, he's not really quite there yet and it's all so innocent and adorable. It makes me chuckle a bit every time. Dunno if that's weird but I love seeing things I foresee as being a wee bit controversial, especially when they depict perfectly natural human behaviour. And as we know, nobody should be portraying perfectly natural human behaviour, how ludicrous.

Anyway I should stop ranting. I feel a strong urge to play Dragonage again and so I think I might do that. I'm off to slay baddies and romance elves in a paracetamol-fuelled haze, my lovelies. Hope this hasn't been too boring, I don't normally do a lot of writing on here. Lemme know, I like to know what you guys wanna see.

Belated Birthday Gaming

Last night my friends Kelly and Luke joined me for several rounds with Captain Kavok in an interactive boardgame that I haven't played since I was a child. Luke found me a mint condition, un-opened game for my birthday! (pictured below)

Luke is seriously THE best gift giver, ever.

A new addition to my wall, thank you Kelly ^_^ (As you can see last night had a bit of a theme!)

Blast of a night and I was so thrilled to finally get to open my present! Thanks guys

That's all for now,

Ensembles, New Additions and General Happenings Around the Fairy Grotto

So going off what I said yesterday I tried to put a bit of effort into my outfit today, tossing on what is currently probably my favourite wardrobe pieces; plus I did my make up!

Nothing you guys haven't seen before but I am so in love with this skirt and the new Black Milk XL sizing is so comfortable I never want to take these Chopin leggings off.

Leggings and Skirt - Black Milk Clothing
Jacket - Saxony (Ebay)
Tee - Black Victory
Boots - Big W

Speaking of comfortable BM leggings...Oops I slipped ;)

I can't wait for these, ever since they were sneak peeked a few months ago I've been dying to get them on my legs.

Also, new ASOS order arrived today; a first from them for me.

It was a leather skirt which I got on sale for a bargain of less than 60 bucks. But yeah, it is real leather so vegans/vegos should note that in case they wanted to buy their own. They do have plenty of varieties of veggie-friendly, faux-leather options however.

Sorry about the constant crappines of my photos but my computer can't handle having any more photos on it and my SLR ones are huge files plus the light in my house is complete shit.

In other news my ability to read for long periods of time seems to be returning (who knew that anaesthetic had such a bad reaction 0.o) So I've started this book ...again, hoping this time I can get through it. I normally don't read that much modern stuff however I for some reason was put on to a series by the same other by a friend and hoped this would be as attention-grabbing. So far it's a bit so-so but I do believe it's getting better!

Moving on, I just found a cute little reference to me in this lovely blog that I'm probably the last to discover :P It's called Dark Side of the Net and the post mentioning me and my little place on the interwebs is here. Thank you kind stranger for the mention and for reading! ^_^

Also, check out the awesome breakfast Mum and I had on Sunday ^_^ nom nom

Anyway I think that's probably all for tonight. Please check out my last post on a possible outfit challenge, more participants equals more fun!

P.s. Readers do my pictures appear blurry to you? I'm not sure what's going on but for some reason even though I know the pics aren't blurry they show up as such on my blog. If you open them in their own window/tab they come into focus though; it's really weird and frankly it's pissing me off! Anyone got any advice/comments?

P.p.s. I'm approaching 200 posts, do people usually do something special for these kind of milestones?

Edit: Until I can figure out why stupid blogger makes all my photos blurry when they're resized I've had to make them smaller but if you click on them and open them in a new window they appear much larger and clear. Again if any one knows why this happens I'd love to hear from you either by comment or you can email me at sydneysomething@hotmail.com
Thanks

OOTD feat. Kelly

So today Kelly and Luke popped in for a visit to say hello to little ol' housebound me and also so I could give Kelly part 2 of her birthday present (i.e. the part just from me) :D

After recieving quite a few new items lately I was keen to get some wear out of them as I haven't really had much of a chance, been on home detention and all after my surgery a few weeks ago. This is what I wore;

Men's black button up shirt - Saxony ($10 on ebay)
Black Satin jabot - FanPlusFriend
PVC Skirt and Chopin Black Leggings - Black Milk Clothing

I was quite fond of my outfit today, I'm IN LOVE with this skirt!

Kelly with her present! A new bag from Iron Fist, a brand she's rather fond of I hear. Also two new purple themed nail polishes from Australian-owned and run Lilypad Lacquer!

Happy Belated Birthday, Kelly!

That's all for now,

The Plague, Life and Gaming

Bit of a whingy post today followers, so avert your gaze if you're disinterested in posts about the inner workings of my life :P

Gah, I am so sick of being sick! I think my doctor is also sick of seeing me too :P I'm on my second round of antibiotics as of today for this stupid cough that has now turned into a chest infection and also started on some sort of bloody steroid to make me heal faster or some crap. I'm also putting away 4000mg of vitamin C a day -.-
Reason being is I have surgery soon and I can't be sick for it ergh :/ I don't know how much I've mentioned but I'm having a tumour removed from my liver and I got my date for surgery yesterday. Not gonna lie...I'm a bit scared >.>

So...in the meantime I've been planning my funeral (and what a great affair it will be) just in case I actually do die haha. But, if I don't I'll come out of it with a wicked and massive scar across my abdomen!

In light of this I've been splurging on various things including a new Black Milk item and the new Tomb Raider game! Gah I can't wait to play it but it needs a stupid update and my net is crap and also I probably shouldn't be downloading it with our really limited amount of data we have here...But YOLO I guess haha. I promise that will be the first and last time I ever use that term on my blog *crosses heart*.

Woooo! Tomb Raider!

I'm also majorly lusting over UNIF's Hellbound boots. They've recently been restocked on Solestruck and I keep checking if my size is still in stock every hour on the hour hahaha.

Mind the puddle of drool on the floor...

Anyway, hopefully I can get this game fully installed so I can play it alllll weekend long. That intertwined with a lot of sleeping sounds like a solid plan for fun.

Anyway I'm off now to play a few rounds of Plants Vs Zombies and then perhaps read a chapter or two of my book before I head to bed.

Sleep well (or have a good day to those not in the southern hemisphere!)

Outfit and New Leggings

So I've been feeling especially crap lately...which sucks and on Monday I have an appointment with a surgeon to discuss surgery I have to have :/ Sooo I guess I'm blogging a lot lately to try and distract myself..Plus watching lots of Star Trek and Star Gate to remind me that I guess in a sense there's more out there than my issues and to try and look at the bigger picture, not getting caught up in stress and worry about my own problems. A little cliché maybe :P Buut whatever works I guess.

Anyway, I also finding getting dressed up nicely lifts my spirits so I've not been allowing myself to stay in my robe or pjs all day when I have no where to go. So here's my outfit for the day!

Witch King leggings and Burned Velvet Butterfly Top - Black Milk Clothing
Velvet Bolero - Gallery Serpentine
Patent boots - Big W
Scarf - Some random stall in Asia (gift from Mumsie)

Also my latest pair of nylons came today...Yeah I have a problem and have done since 2010 :/ These are Suicide of Morozumi leggings;

Pretty nifty.

Anyway, I don't have any more to add so I'm off.

Physio outing

My outfit for my outing to the physio today! I've grown to really like these appointments. I'd had shoulder issues for a few years now and this time I have decided I'm going to give it my all to try and get better. I often with medical issues just don't bother with exercises etc but my therapist has an extremely sunny demeanour and she's so motivating for some reason :P

Anyway apparently I've made progress which is exciting! :D Also next week, other than gaining more improvement, one of my goals is to download the superman theme and bring it on my phone to our appointment :P Everyone needs a physiotherapist this awesome for the best chance at recovery, I swear.

OOTD featuring;
DM copies from Big W
Black Spartan leggings from Black Milk Clothing (I'm so obsessed with these right now)
Whisper Dress -  Gail Sorronda
Cameo necklace - Pandora (gift for my 21st ^_^)
