5 Things I Gotta Own Before the End of the Year (But I Probably Won't)

1. A Stylish and Practical Hat

It's only spring and already here where I live in Australia our daily temps are hitting the mid '30s (Celcius obvs) and as someone who is always hiding from the sun (I'm sure many of you reading this can relate), I'm always trying to find something to shield be from the damaging rays.

A little while ago I got a free style mag in one of my Bella Boxes that had a page of style inspired by M*A*S*H (obviously - this caught my attention as a huge fan of the show and the colour green haha). Featured was 'The MomenT' hat in dusty green (shown below) by Fallenbrokenstreet, an Aussie brand. I immediately fell in love with this hat and several others and have since been coveting them furiously.

Here are a few others that I'd love to own:

 'The Dingo'

'The BaMbi'

There are heaps of really cute ones that I think would look amazing and add the finishing touch to an outfit whilst protecting your pretty face from the evil sun. So if you're the kind of person who likes hats, check 'em out.

2. Kat Von D's Studded Kiss Lipstick in 'Lovecraft'

I've never been a fan of KVD, I don't know enough about her to feel any way about her in fact but I mean...Come on...It's a beautiful dusty pink in a black studded bullet and best of all it's freakin' called 'Lovecraft'. I've been holding back the urge to find some way of getting myself a tube in case I'm able to grab one when Sephora FINALLY opens here in early December. Soon (hopefully), my precious...Soon...

3. More Night Vale Merch

Welcome to Night Vale takes over my life twice a month, I freakin' adore it; I'm obsessed with it and I want the world to bloody well know it.

These are a few things I've got my eye on in their store right now (but realistically I'd buy everything if I could)

Moonlight All-Night Diner Mug

 All Hail Tee

4. A New All-Purpose Bag

My current satchel is around 7 or maybe 8 years old and is really starting to look a little worse for wear. I probably need to start thinking about replacing it and I'd like to get something in black this time, as the brown I had before definitely didn't always go so well with my attire. Would also like something a tiny bit wider so I don't have as much trouble fitting books/my kindle in my bag.

5. A New Computer

 Meep

This is something I need more than anything but it also happens to be more expensive than anything else I need/want. The kind of specs I want don't come cheap and I know that it'd probably be a lot better value for money to just build my own desktop but given my living environment it'd be difficult to work with a desktop (I don't have a desk for one thing). Sigh.  just wanna play new release games already! (I'm looking at you Dragon Age 3...)

The shit people make is just amazing..

Do you have a top 5 things that are just eating away at you to own?

Pre-Surgery Cosmetics and Skincare Haul

So a few days before I went under the knife I must admit my trepidation was at an all time high and so to distract myself I went on a little spending spree. Having formed a small obsession with watching Grav3yard Girl videos, I seemed to have rekindled my make up obsession as I think I mentioned in a post not too long ago and retail therapy was a perfect way to find some new things to add to an ever-growing collection of beauty products.

Whoops :P

Clean and Clear Deep Action Cleansing Wipes

(These I actually bought a few days ago but I thought I'd include them in this post anyway)
Now that I'm not longer using medication to control my skin I am extremely paranoid about breaking out. I decided to try these because they were the only wipes I could find (I literally spent like an hour in the supermarket reading the ingredients list on the back of every brand/variety of facial wipe they had) to see if any had salicylic acid in them. Supposedly this ingredient is good for curving breakouts and helps to diminish black heads.
I've only used them once so far and they are very drying so I do recommend using a good quality moisturiser afterwards if your skin is prone to dry patches. I can't speak for their effectiveness so early in my use of them but they are rather expensive ($10 for 46 wipes that are about a tenth of the size of a normal wipe as opposed to the $4 I pay for 30 wipes for my usual brand). I would also like to add that 46 seems like a strange amount to give...Normally I would expect increments of 5 or 10 and it kind'a weirds me out a little...Is that a weird thing to be weirded out by? Probably :P

Models Prefer Lipstain in 'Tutti Fruiti'

I'm actually really fond of this product surprisingly! I bought it on a whim because I liked the name tutti-fruiti and I find it's a really cute colour and very moisturising. You have to be careful not to apply too much as it will bleed/feather outside of the lip line but otherwise I've found it exceeds expectations.

Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain in 'Gothic'

I haven't really used this product since I bought it and tried it on once getting home. It consists of a colour-filled pen on one end and a clear balm on the other.

These seem to be all the rage at the moment, making sock buns and what not. I thought perhaps it would help me to make a top-knot sort'a asian noble look seeing as my hair is too thin to make one on it's own.

Joico K-PAK hair reconstructor.

I normally use a treatment for my hair by Juuice in a pink bottle but I was recommended this by a saleswoman in Price Attack; here's hoping it helps my severely damaged hair.

Ecotools Bamboo Powder brush

Not much to say really, my old powder brush is falling apart and it kind of rough on the skin. This one is lovely and soft, eco-friendly and pretty to look at.

Maxfactor Lasting Performance Liquod Foundation in 102 'Pastelle'

So far I haven't really been pleased with this 'lasting performance' they speak of. I applied it once getting home and only about an hour or 2 later in was oxidising and sliding off my nose. Although I did set it with my Illamasqua powder foundation, I didn't prepare my skin in any way (clean or prime beforehand) so I'm hoping this is why I didn't recieve the results promised.
It is also disappointing that this foundation is a lot darker than I anticipated. As you can see in the swatch below it is very orange/brown on my skin despite that I compared it to my skin in the store. Applying my white powder did remove some of the ridiculous orange tone is added but it still didn't leave me looking as pale as I would like.

Maxfactor Lasting Performance in 102 'Pastelle' swatch (I swear it didn't look this bad in the store!)

Box of freebies!

Spending over a certain amount, Priceline gave me this box of free items. I'm probably only going to use the nailpolish but..free stuff is awesome, right?

Models Prefer Nail Polish in 'Wanna Be Royal'

I'm actually really happy with this colour, I'm really into wine/plums and deep blackish reds right now and was on the look out for a nice nail polish that fit.

Models Prefer Runway Shine Lipgloss in 'Angel Wings'

Models Prefer lipstick in 'Picture Perfect'

It also came with a bronzer, but..LOL yeah right :P

Also, completely not related to cosmetics but yay for my first Dragons Maze Magic cards! Do any of you play?

Anyway that's about all I got for today

Lipstick!

So as far as make up goes, I'm not one for lipstick really. As it is I wear a crap-tonne of make up when I can be bothered to put it on and I s'pose I figured where  I can cut costs or whatever, that was always an easy choice. Plus having quite thin lips, I never thought it looked all that good on me.

Well I guess it was watching too many of Grav3yard Girl's videos that did it but this week I felt like maybe I outta step out of my comfort zone a little in regards to lip products. I scrounged up on of the only lipsticks I own, a Nude Apricot colour from Avon that I'd purchased back in the day on a whim.

Here's me cam-whoring with the Avon lipstick on

This particular product has a core of lipbalm, I guess to make it more moisturising than a normal lipstick. Problem that arises with this is that the lipstick bleeds/feathers almost immediately and me not owning any lip liner couldn't really do much about it. I s'pose it's also probable that I was applying it wrong, as I admit I know nothing about lipstick but I can't imagine there's that much of an art to it.

Anyway, still on my lip-kick, I impulse-bought this Rimmel pinky-nude colour from the chemist whilst I waited for a prescription to be filled. Whilst Kate Moss would normally be enough to turn me off just about anything but perhaps a large plate of fries, I guess the black, simplistic packaging got me and at only $5 I was like eh, what the hell.

According to the bottom it's what I assume is Shade 7, 'Lasting Finish by Kate'

I wore it to class and only touched it up once after eating pizza at lunch. I don't really have anything to compare it to as to whether this is good lasting period for a lipstick but I wasn't too bothered with it. Normally in summer I'd be touching up my foundation to remain matte multiple times a day and anything less than that I guess wouldn't be an issue.

Lippy after class had finished at around 5pm.

So I guess all I can say in summary is that as a lipstick novice, I was quite satisfied with the product. Still not sure I'm crazy about how lipstick looks on me but eh, it's fun to shake things up sometimes :)

That's all for now,
