Motherland -Tentacle Threads Haul

So here are the items I purchased whilst Kitty and myself were at the fund-raising gig for Tentacle Threads. All these items were 50% off!

Cute little ring, kind'a candy-lolita esque?

A bow to indulge in my cephalopod obsession <3

This is the collar of my pvc bolero. Unfortunately it's a size 16, when it said on the price tag 18...But it still fits, just a little short in the arms >.< I really love the muertos sugar skull style button though!

A shout out to all my lovely followers in Europe!

One of Australia's very talented industrial artists Shiv-R are about to hit Europe! I have their first album 'Hold My Hand', their latest single 'Incision' and I'm chomping at the bit to get my hands on their new album that isn't far from being released. I strongly urge you guys to see them if you like industrial and can get to one of their shows! I've had their album in my car's CD player ever since I scored it back in 2010. Plus Pete (Virul3nt) and his lovely wife Wendy are fucking awesome!

Shiv-R Up My Spine

So as some of you may know if you read Kitty's blog, I headed to Sydney this weekend to meet my fellow blogger, shop, party and generally have super fun times. I hopped on a bus around 11 on Friday morning and 6 and a half hours later I arrived in Sydney (ergh..). Thank you very much mother nature for making the trip so much longer and more complicated.

So once Kitty and I met up, we went to our hotel and got beautified before heading out to the fund-raising event; Motherland!

It was held at this lovely little Cabaret-style theatre called The Red Rattler, located in Marrickville. It really was a fantastic event, and I had a blast! It was hosted by Tentacle Threads, one of my favourite brands and Shiv-R was playing, fuck yeah! There was a bunch of peeps there I knew which was really nice because I don't get to see them all that often, and to top it all off...

I WON BEST DRESSED!!

The prize was a $50 gift voucher to Gallery Serpentine! I was apsolutely thrilled and put it towards an order the following day. I really hope to attend more events like that one in future! (Plus I made a few purchases at the Tentacle Threads stall whilst there as well as a Shiv-R shirt ^_^).

The following day Kitty and I headed on over to Newtown, first stop being at Gallery Serpentine.

I'm not sure how long it was that we spent there, but I can't say it was a short visit :p

Whilst there I put my gift voucher towards an order for a black bolero with tulle and emerald green taffeta trimming, bought a matching black lace parasol as my antique white one as well as putting a lay-by on the green Antoinette skirt pictured above. It's sooooo beautiful.

Kitty also made a few purchases there which I'm sure she'll want to discuss herself in her blog, including this giant purple 'Mad Hatter' top hat!

We then visited the Cat Protection Society and played with all the other kitties :P They were all sooooo cute! Meow :3 Wish I could've taken one home :(

Unfortunately our plans to go to the museum and aquarium (to see many-a-octopi) were interrupted due to unforeseen circumstances and I had to bid farewell to my fellow blogger early. I then trotted off to Leichardt to see Gracie and although we were both too tired to go out, we had a lovely night catching up and laughing with her house mates. It was really nice to see you Gravie!

Unfortunately my trip back home wasn't nearly as fun as the weekend. Bad weather meant the highway through the mountains was closed and meant myself along with all the other passengers were stranded. So just like my trip down, what is normally a 4 and a half hour drive to Sydney became an over 7 hour one. Needless to say, I'm not planning any bus/train trips over the mountains any time soon.

Anyways my lovelies, I'll do a post of my new additions to my wardrobe etc soon.

Over and out!

Illamasqua

So I have a real problem with being unable to stop myself from buying things. Today I spent whatever the Australian equivalent of around 45 pounds on make up. I was reading one of Adora Batbrat's more recent posts on what foundations she uses and someone commented mentioning Illamasqua. I'd never heard of the brand but I was impressed by their array of pale shades when it came to their foundations. So...yeah I bought their second lightest colour...I think it's 105; white with pink undertones. I always whiten my current foundation anyway with Manic Panic Virgin pressed powder so I wasn't too worried about getting anything too pale but then again I didn't wanna look like a Juggernaut or anything.

So when the package arrives in the post I will be the owner of a new bottle of Rich Liquid Foundation, Matte Primer and green false eyelashes >.>

Also whilst I was on their site I noticed they have a wide variety of lipstick shades. I um'd and ahh'd about whether to buy some but finally decided not to. I see so many of my fellow bloggers flaunting their lovely lipstick laden chops and sigh with envy. I you see, don't really think that lipstick suits me and my rather thin lips. So to my lipstick-loving lady's (and gents?) out there, I suggest it might be worth a peek.

Anyway that's about all I have to say this evening, I probably should head off to bed in order to get up early to begin the morning as a hard working corporate slave as Snog might put it :P

P.s. I'm watching Dangerous Liasons now and it may just be the best movie I've ever seen...Okay so I'm exaggerating a little but I'm so into Rococo right now and everyone's all nasty and deceitful and John Malcovich is being just delightful. And the costumes...Oh the costumes *froths* So yeah....Go watch it :P

Try To Sit Straight On a Broken Leg

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4 and write the sentence here: "..he'd learned to control his powerful emotions, to keep them to himself."

2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What’s there? Air..Dust particles? Etc

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV? I'm currently half paying attention to 'Life After People'.

4. Without looking, guess what time it is: About 8:47pm?

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time? 9:22pm.

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear? Air conditioner, TV, cat licking itself.

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
Mother and I went for a walk, but she wanted to power walk and I didn't so I came back and played with the chickens for a bit before coming inside.

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at? Facefail, blogger, Kitty's blog, PVZ.

9. What are you wearing? Black Tights, black singlet and an aqua robe. And black socks.

10. Did you dream last night? I dunno, I dream so often all nights tend to run into the others.

11. When did you last laugh? Half an hour ago?

12. What is on the walls of the room you are in? A few paintings.

13. Seen anything weird lately? My cat is staring at me weird. Crazy bitch.

14. What is the last film you saw? Super 8.

15. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy? A house in Melbourne and pay for all my friends to come and have a massive house warming party!

16. Tell me something about you that I don’t know. The smell of bacon makes me sick.

17. If you could change one thing about the world, what would you change? Um..I guess turn everyone into empaths; so they couldn't do anything bad to anyone else without having to feel the way they do as it's happening.

18. Do you like to dance? Yes! But I wish I was better at it.

19. What do you think of the president? The current one I assume you mean. Um, I think it's cruel to confuse large proportions of Americans by electing someone with his name :P

20. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her? Hahahahaha..hahaha...aha..err.. Okay, let's get wild and assume I get pregnant (I assume it happened then I went into a coma so I couldn't get it aborted). So...Nyx? I dunno

21. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him? Byron Balthazar Montgomery.

22. Would you ever consider living abroad? Definitely!

23. What do you want to say to God when you reach the pearly gates? I'd ask him to turn off the life support, because obviously I'm still in the aforementioned coma.

Oh and I added a new page to my blog! It's still being edited because I'm lazy and all and I'll have to go through my favourites at some point...But not tonight. :P

Interview With a Goth - Catacombxkitten

Today's victim is Saskia of The Graveyard Picnic!

Name? Saskia

Goth alias? I use the username CatacombKitten or CatacombxKitten, so I suppose that's my alias.

Age? 20

Relationship status? In a relationship

Where are you hailing from? I was born in Antwerp, Belgium, but now I live in a tiny stupid little town. During the school year I'm in Leuven, though.

What is your favourite band, song and movie? My favourite band... Voltaire, I suppose. Last year I travelled all the way to Oslo, Norway with two friends to see him. This year I'm going to see him in London. Other favourites are Emilie Autumn, London After Midnight, IAMX and Abney Park.

I change my mind about favourite songs all the time, but a couple of my favourites are Protège moi by Placebo, Sleepwalker by Adam Lambert, Graveyard Picnic by Voltaire (hence my blog's title), Airship Pirate by Abney Park and 306 by Emilie Autumn.
Favourite movie would be either the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Bram Stoker's Dracula or Labyrinth. I really enjoyed Sucker Punch too, but I've only seen it once so far, so I'm not sure yet.

Favourite author and book? I love anything that's written by Oscar Wilde or Jane Austen. Other than their works, I like Lord of the Rings (Tolkien), Memoirs of a Geisha (Arthur Golden), The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls (Emilie Autumn), the Southern Vampire Mysteries (Charlaine Harris) and I'm a Harry Potter nerd. There's so many more I could mention here, I read way too much.

If you were only allowed to use one cosmetic for the rest of your life what would it be? Hard one. Either black liquid eyeliner or black mascara.

List 3 things we’d find in your handbag/backpack if we opened it now My camera, a paper notebook, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Are there any things you never leave the house without? Nothing interesting, my wallet and my cell phone, probably. Sometimes I even leave those at home, when I'm taking the dog for a walk for instance.

Favourite season? Every season has its charms.

In your opinion what colour looks best on you? Black, obviously. I also really like purple.

What subgenre of goth do you think you fit into/ have you created your own? I mix and match a lot. One day I feel like wearing something very fancy with lots of petticoats, the other I wear ripped fishnets and studded belts. I'm a goth with influences from Victorian clothing, EGL, steampunk, pin-up, vampires, pirates, fairytales and anything I see that I think is pretty.

Where would we find you on a Saturday evening? Nowadays, I'm usually at home, either studying, reading, watching a movie/series. I do like to go out, but I don't do that very often. I'm more likely to do something with friends, like playing board games or watching movies.

Discovered any good goth-related websites lately and care to share them? Not really, but I'm completely addicted to Tumblr right now. You can find so many pretty things there.

Anything in particular you’re into at the mo’? DIY'ing. I never really dared to try making stuff on my own, 'cause I'm very clumsy, but my first tries haven't turned out too bad. Sewing doesn't go too well, though, since I have to do everything by hand.

Best live band performance you’ve seen? Either Voltaire or Emilie Autumn. Voltaire knows how to entertain a crowd and while Emilie Autumn's show is simply unique.

Like to share an interesting fact about yourself? I've practised karate ever since I was six years old, I've got a brown belt now and hope to do my exam for black belt in March 2012.

Favourite piece of clothing you own? Right now, my very first EGL skirt from Dracula clothing. It's so poofy! I also love my Spin Doctor blouse with ruffles.

Favourite accessory? I don't wear a lot of jewellery, but I do really like cameos and chokers. Right now I have an obsession with fascinators, I'm making one myself.

Any bodymods? I used to have a belly button piercing, a helix and a nose piercing, but the nose piercing I took out; the helix fell out and I couldn't get to the shop to get a new one, so it closed up. I've still got the one in my belly button, though.

Biggest pet peeve about the goth scene? It's not always the case, but on many occasions people who don't have enough money to be dressed to the nines are looked down upon. Students don't have as much money and I always love to see outfits that have been put together with little money, simply because they take a much larger effort and are often much more original. I can't stand the arrogance of some older goths towards younger ones, simply because they can't afford expensive outfits.

If you had the chance to meet any one in human history who would it be? Oscar Wilde. Everything I've read and learned about him is amazing and I'm sure that being able to talk to him for a few hours would be very inspirational.

Any parting comments? To anyone who is new in the goth scene: don't be too scared about whether something might or might not be goth. Every goth has a few things he or she's crazy about that don't have anything to do with goth.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Saskia for an interesting peak inside your thoughts!

It's Because We Have Hair but Who Put Grandma Under the Stair?

A few little mentions today my lovelies, first of all welcome to my new followers! I have over 80 now and I'm absolutely thrilled! I never would have thought anyone would want to read about my life, but I must be doing something right and it's very humbling :).

Also, here's a cute little shot from the Peasant's ball following the Winter Magic festival a few weekends ago.

Furthermore, as some of you may have noticed from my last post; I'm a little obsessed with Rockabilly quiffs right now. I especially think it looks rather smashing with shaved sides of the head. It works on either sex in my opinion! (boys especially :P)

Here's a few pics I found through google (THESE ARE NOT MY IMAGES)

Mmmhmmm

Also, a good friend of mine is over in the US at the moment (lucky bugger!) and is going to purchase me a new pair of Ray Ban sunglasses; seeing as they're about $130 cheaper over there than they are here. I'm not really much of a brand whore normally, but I do have a thing for designer sunglasses; as I'm very sun-wise and they're simply so stylish! I've had my black wayfarers for several years now and I love them to bits. Originally when my friend and I were discussing which type to get before he gallivanted across the ocean I planned to get another pair of wayfarers. However after discovering the clubmasters I immediately changed my mind.

So soon these beauties will be mine! I'm so excited!

My new purchases from Fanplusfriend arrived today in the mail and I should do a post on those in the next few days. I can't wait for an event to wear my Rococo-style dress to! Unfortunately those will be my last purchases till I move to Melbourne in September as I HAVE to get serious about saving for my move. (Eeep I mean other than my new sunnies!) But seriously, get up me if I'm considering getting anything else. I'm gonna be destitute otherwise!

Lastly I'm really looking forward to my friend Adelle's 21st tomorrow evening as it's Harry Potter themed! Plus a few of us in the NSW Steampunk Crew are planning a dressed up outing to the Powerhouse museum this month. Of course I will be doing it on the cheap as much as I can, but it still should be good fun!

Anyway stay tuned for the aforementioned posts that are up and coming and of course the next instalment of 'Interview With a Goth' featuring Saskia of Graveyard Picnic!

Thanks everyone for reading!
