*My* Industrial Heart

So I can't exactly remember whether I mentioned that I commissioned a one of a kind Industrial Heart from Monster Kookies in any of my previous posts (and to be honest I can't be f-ed going back and reading through to find out), but in any case, I did and it arrived during my long absence from my blog! I only just realised that I hadn't posted it on here, so I thought I'd share!

Kimberly from Monster Kookies is the lovely lady that brought me Verne the clay-polymer octopus, whom I adore! Anyway, she has these anatomically correct clay hearts she creates and I sort of described down to ridiculous detail what I wanted out of mine, and somehow she managed to wade through the verbal diarrhoea that were my ideas and create something magnificient!

So here it is:

Originally she did make it without the little wire thingy-ma'bobba, however me being the pain-in-the-arse customer that I am felt I required it and I seriously think it just topped off the perfect Industrial Heart like the cherry on the proverbial sundae. She named it 'Mutated Affection' on her Deviantart if you'd like to check it out.

Anyway I'm running late for work, so I best be off.

Over and out!

Corset Mania

So, I am of the opinion that a girl, especially lovely ladies of the Gothic persuasion can NEVER have enough corsets. So keeping this in mind, when I buy corsets I always have another lined up for my next purchase (unfortunately they're generally a little bit pricey and so I can't really afford/justify buying them all the time).

Anyway so a few months ago I purchased my first Louise Black corset, unfortunately the 10 week waiting time means I still haven't got it -sadface- . So it'll look like this when I get it, only in emerald green instead of black:

Prettttyyyyy

So, now for my next corset! I've decided it's to be one from Allycat Metalware, and I have cut the list down to a few options. Though, each have their pros and cons, such as some of them not having any clasps at the front, making them difficult to get on and off (especially dreadful when you've been drinking, ergh :P).

Okay, so here they are:

Circuit Board

Probably one of my top favourites. I think I'd get it in this neon yellow-green colour, but with black side panels and green circuit detailing.

The next of the option list is this nifty little number:

Steampunk prop off-centre Clip

I'm a little concerned with this one that the clips in the front wouldn't be all that secure. Other than that however I love it, though I have two gold and black corsets already.

Next is a rather simple style, but nice nonetheless:

Steampunk Bolted Seams

This two has the issue of being black and gold (Somewhat obsessed with that colour combo :P) but otherwise I think it's simplicity would make it easy to make it work with pretty much any outfit. I also think the bolts might be slimming?

Moving on:

Metropolis

This one is much the same as the above but without the bolt detailing and with lovely removable hip panels. I think they might be quite useful for hiding unwanted hip flab :P Plus this even more so would suit copious amounts of outfits, with or without the panels.

And last but not least:

Industrial Steampunk

I LOVE this one so much, but unfortunately it has no front clasps, making getting dressed and undressed somewhat problematic.

Sigh, so many choices! Oh well, I'm sure I'll make up my mind by the time I can afford it surely.

Which do you guys like best, I'd love to hear your opinions!

Anyway, that's all for tonight.

Over and out.

A Goth in Hollywood

I know I haven't posted in ages, and I apologise for that; unfortunately life has been a little hectic and unpleasant lately. A few weeks ago one of my close friends and her younger sister lost their lives in a pointless and utterly blameless car accident. It's ridiculously tragic and has just drained me of any motivation to even get out of bed in the morning...

Georgie and Bella were two of the most beautiful souls I'd ever encountered and I really can't imagine anyone less deserving of such a horrible fate.

....

...plus I'm still having Internet issues unfortunately therefore uploading pictures is still as slow as a snail on a salt lake...I just made that analogy up, but yeah, slow :P

Anyway, let's move on.

So my friend Kathryn turned 21 on Halloween (lucky bitch :P) and this weekend she had her party with a Classic Hollywood Glamour theme. I was the photographer for the event and I just kind'a rocked a flapper look with a little gothic twist. I was quite happy with the results, and Kat herself did the fingerwaves in my hair, I've always wanted to try them!

I apologise for the bad quality photos, I just took a few off facebook because they mostly small file sizes. Anyway, here's a few snaps of me and friends nicked from various people.

This was me towards the end of the night, and yeah my lashes are starting to come off...sorry about that :P.

My eyebrows are done with glitter from Medusa Makeup, my eyelashes are from Amelia Arsenic's shop Black Pill Red Pill, the green pearls and cameo and feather facinator are from this AMAZING little shop I discovered in Melbourne, Madame Pompadour and the dress was from some generic chain clothing chop in the Canberra centre and it only cost like...$20. Bargain I thought.

That's about all, thanks for reading.

Explanations and Apologies

Hellllllllooooooo worrlllllllllldddddddddddddd

No, I'm not dead! Though in the world of technology I might as well be!

So I know I haven't posted in ages, and no it's not because I'm a slack bitch, I actually really look forward to posting, and get excited about things I can blog about, and it's REALLY frustrating when your internet provider just decides it's no longer financially viable for them to give us internet and turns it off without letting any of their customers know.

See we'd had a shitload of storms and the net was unreliable, i would often go off for days when there were storms and such. Anyway we just figured they were taking ages to fix the net, and we did ring them a few times, and they gave us various excuses why it wasn;t done, one of them that it was snowing and therefore no one could brave the cold and fix it, despite that whilst the gentleman from Cirrus told me this, I looked out the window and it was a pleasent sunny day...Hmmm..

Anyway, after a while one of my parents got a bit stroppy with them and their excuses and spoke to one of their head honchos who informed us that they weren't fixing the connection and that we'd no longer have a contract with them.

Well thanks a fucking lot you bastards.

Anyway, to makelong story somewhat shorter, we've tried several options and unfortunatly due to our circumstances we can only get dial up. Grrrrrr! So, yes, I'm not sure if I'll be able to bother posting while this torture continues but I'm just letting you folks out there (if anyone does in fact follow m'blog that that's why I haven't been around.

In other news, if you'll recall the green snake skin patterned tights I ordered from Black Milk ages ago, well they did arrive but up until now I hadn't really gotten a nice shot of them.

This shot was taken by my good friend, Gracie and is featured in the latest Black Milk blog post.
There's more photos of that shoot with Grace (like the two in this post) on Grace's blog.

Okay, I'm off

Bye!

Easy being green

So I haven't posted in ages, and I apologise for that if there's anyone out there that reads my blog religiously (A girl can dream :P ) but it's been due to a multitude of reasons. First of all our Internet was down for 8 days, and it seriously nearly killed me. I was like crack whore Lindsay Lohan at the beginning of a stint in rehab. I ate a whole packet of biscuits despite not being hungry, I wandered around aimlessly, I played like a bazillion games of minesweeper, and got up and turned the modem off and on around about 200 times a day; it was horrid!

Then, a day after the net came back up, my hard drive decided to have a coronary and shat itself, taking all the intricacies of my life along with it. Luckily I had backed up about 2 weeks ago, I'm kind'a lazy with that, but yeah lost about 3 gigs of music which I had just recently acquired, which is really annoying.

So for the last 10 days or so I have had no computer. I feel faint saying it out loud, or in text..or whatever. I'm currently on my mum's computer, and she's been good enough to let me borrow it a couple of times. She also bought me a new hard drive which has arrived and we installed it a couple of days ago, now we're just waiting for software my uncle's sending down.

Anyway, the weather had been pretty much constantly raining for the past 2 weeks and so taking photos has been kinda not possible despite that I have so many new editions to talk about!

I will talk about one today however, so I went to Sydney last week, not for a very nice reason but Mum and I wanted to get away from my Dad and Nan who we'd been stuck with all day and were driving us a little loopy, so we went for a wander in Newtown. Mum was interested in having a little peek into the subculture that I've claimed as my own and so we visited a few of the awesome shops along enmore road. Anyway after about 40 minutes in Gallery Serpentine, we were walking back up to the train station and I asked if we could take a little stop into In Visible Light, because a few years ago I got a really nice hat from there. Anyway a had a discussion with the lovely folks in there for quite a while, they were really sweet! However, probably just saw me as a dollar sign on legs but anyway, I bought a pair of Hulk green Colourvue lenses, and I love them! I had so much trouble deciding between them and the glowing green ones that react with UV light. I ended up going with these because they were cheaper, but I admit I'll probably get the other pair anyway :P

Anyway, here;s a picture that Grace look today after the photo shoot I had with her. I gothed her up and took some photos around our paddock. Hopefully I'll get those soon, and when I get my computer back I'll upload them here.

Anyway, that's about all I have to say,

Laterz

Rapid Movements in Your Mind's Eye

Okay, so Grace suggested to me that I might do a post on how I might go about doing my makeup. So I've made this tutorial type thing for one of my preferred make up styles for a goth event or just a night I feel like looking a bit formidable! Obviously this isn't appropriate for everyday or every outfit, but it's just a nice, colourful and fun style. I've also incorporated some photos of most of the tools I've used in making this.

WARNING! Includes some UGLEH photos of me with no foundation on! Eeep! Not all of us can be naturally beautiful I s'pose. Anyway, here we go! (p.s. you might have to click to enlarge some of these photos to see the details).

I will be using my Coastal Scents 88 Colour Palette as shown below.

I have circled to two colours I've used in red.

Firstly clean your face and apply primer; be sure to pay special attention to your eyelids and any areas that may be less consistent texture-wise than the rest of your face.

Now apply the, lighter green all over the lid with a general eyeshadow brush, and be sure to blend it into the crease of your eye. Also, I like to add a green lining with the same eyeshadow under the eye with an angled brush in order to make it 'pop' more dramatically. The photo above shows the difference between the eye with and without the green lining. If you don't like it, obviously don't include it.

Next we apply the dark green over most of the lid, however avoid the inner corner in order to conserve the nice gradient. As before, be sure to blend well into the crease; I find the best way to do that is to blend it whilst your eye is open, sweeping across with your eye as wide as it can go. It's a little hard to explain if you don't know what I mean, but I guess if you know me in real life you can just ask me to show you :P

Now we apply the black to the outer corner of the eye and up into the crease, about a third of the way across the eye. Remember to PRESS the black it, especially if your black eyeshadow is as crumbly and bad-a-quality as the one I was using when I did this. Pressing decreases the amount of excess that just falls all over your face as opposed to a sweeping motion. However, if you do get a bit of excess on your face, and you're like me and aren't a connoisseur of professional makeup brushes, just dust over the area quickly with your largest powder brush.

As I've said, blending is probably the most important thing about getting nice looking eyeshadow, so I've ensured I've put in both a before and after blending photo. Obviously above looks ridiculous, this is BEFORE blending.

And this is after. I've blended the black out quite a lot, but I wanted a very dramatic look. I also re-shape the edges of my eyeshadow by wiping off excess with makeup remover and a tissue; this also makes applying foundation easier around a more contoured edge. I know you're generally s'pose to apply foundation before-hand, but I lean of my face a lot and often have excess everywhere, so i find it easier to apply it after.

Here is an example of how I've tidied up the side of my eyeshadow; the left is tidied, the right is how it was when I applied it.

Mascara to the other eye (dunno why I already had it applied to one eye :P), pencil eyeliner and liquid foundation.

Powder foundation.

Black cheekbone lines, just done with my blending brush with the excess black that was already on it. Also go over my eyebrows with a bit of black eyeshadow, but my eyebrows always look retarded :P

I was also going to apply my fake eyelashes but for some reason they refused to stick to my eyes, and after I took the pics I also added liquid eyeliner.

Finishing touch, Absinthe flavoured lip balm,; that extra something special for a green fairy ;)

Now for the tools!
General eyeshadow brush

Angle brush

Blending brush

Large powder brush

Concealer, dunno if it actually does anything but :P

Powder for that added goth pallor

Pencil eyeliner, though this one is shit so don't get it. I just couldn't find my other one.

Liquid eyeliner.

I dunno why but I always like to add the tiniest bit of blush to my cheeks.

Full-coverage liquid foundation

I've always used this primer because it's the only one that they sell at big w, but Grace let me try some of her MAC sample and it's AMAZING. So I bought some, can't wait to try it :P

Blush brush

Mascara, I just like this one 'cause I don't seem to get clumps with it.

And yes, well that's all really. I should be getting some of my new purchases next week, and Grace and I will hopefully be able to organise a nice shoot soon, so that will be fun times.

Okay, I'm out. Laterz!
