Ensembles, New Additions and General Happenings Around the Fairy Grotto

So going off what I said yesterday I tried to put a bit of effort into my outfit today, tossing on what is currently probably my favourite wardrobe pieces; plus I did my make up!

Nothing you guys haven't seen before but I am so in love with this skirt and the new Black Milk XL sizing is so comfortable I never want to take these Chopin leggings off.

Leggings and Skirt - Black Milk Clothing
Jacket - Saxony (Ebay)
Tee - Black Victory
Boots - Big W

Speaking of comfortable BM leggings...Oops I slipped ;)

I can't wait for these, ever since they were sneak peeked a few months ago I've been dying to get them on my legs.

Also, new ASOS order arrived today; a first from them for me.

It was a leather skirt which I got on sale for a bargain of less than 60 bucks. But yeah, it is real leather so vegans/vegos should note that in case they wanted to buy their own. They do have plenty of varieties of veggie-friendly, faux-leather options however.

Sorry about the constant crappines of my photos but my computer can't handle having any more photos on it and my SLR ones are huge files plus the light in my house is complete shit.

In other news my ability to read for long periods of time seems to be returning (who knew that anaesthetic had such a bad reaction 0.o) So I've started this book ...again, hoping this time I can get through it. I normally don't read that much modern stuff however I for some reason was put on to a series by the same other by a friend and hoped this would be as attention-grabbing. So far it's a bit so-so but I do believe it's getting better!

Moving on, I just found a cute little reference to me in this lovely blog that I'm probably the last to discover :P It's called Dark Side of the Net and the post mentioning me and my little place on the interwebs is here. Thank you kind stranger for the mention and for reading! ^_^

Also, check out the awesome breakfast Mum and I had on Sunday ^_^ nom nom

Anyway I think that's probably all for tonight. Please check out my last post on a possible outfit challenge, more participants equals more fun!

P.s. Readers do my pictures appear blurry to you? I'm not sure what's going on but for some reason even though I know the pics aren't blurry they show up as such on my blog. If you open them in their own window/tab they come into focus though; it's really weird and frankly it's pissing me off! Anyone got any advice/comments?

P.p.s. I'm approaching 200 posts, do people usually do something special for these kind of milestones?

Edit: Until I can figure out why stupid blogger makes all my photos blurry when they're resized I've had to make them smaller but if you click on them and open them in a new window they appear much larger and clear. Again if any one knows why this happens I'd love to hear from you either by comment or you can email me at sydneysomething@hotmail.com
Thanks

From Meh to Marvelous; Help Me Put Some Spark Back in My Outfits!

So lately I've been feeling rather bleh with life, I guess it's been the down after all the excitement (not in a good way) of having an operation. The last few weeks I've been stuck inside the house, unable to drive anywhere going completely stir-crazy. I'm lucky that I have a few lovely friends that have come to visit me to help me pass the time but I want to be able to find a reason to get out of bed in the morning (the actual morning and not 11:30am or later) with a spring in my step (but not too much lest I hurt myself hehe).

So I was thinking a method that always makes me feel better, as shallow as it may seem, is taking pride in my appearance. I thought if I have an excuse to get up early, actually style an outfit rather than chucking on any old thing that's sitting on the top of my pile of clothes and putting on my face then I might feel a wee bit better and like I'm actually regaining some purpose to my life.

I thought if anyone expresses interest we could do some sort of themed outfit challenge type thing over the course of the week e.g. Monday Grey-scale, Tuesday Anatomical etc. etc., (we can decide that later through a poll perhaps?) And yeah, every one who is interested takes part even if it's in a small way because you have restrictions or something (like work uniform or some such) and then share your addition on your blog and lemme know if you do and Maybe I could feature a few pics of my favs of the day and have links to everyone that wants to have a go.

The only thing I can see going wrong is that sometimes my internet is temperamental (or my father is temperamental and won't let me go on because he's a crazy control freak) and I may be delayed a day or so in posting that day's challenge. So to combat this, we could just deal with this issue if it arises as it comes or we could do some sort of round up in the following week.

So lemme know what y'all think, yeah?

That's all for now,

Spit and Polish

About a week ago I got my first order from an Australian owned and run Nail polish business by the name of Lilypad Lacquer (I mentioned this in a recent post regarding my friend Kelly's birthday present). Lately I have developed a fascination with holo nail polishes thanks to the lovely Kierra over at Look What the Bats Dragged In (A rather expensive fascination - just what I need, another expensive hobbie :P).

Madam Violet, True Blood and Global Greenie by Lilypad Lacquer

Global Greenie over Elope by Illamasqua

And with a flash (sorry about the quality)

I've also ordered Lonesome George by Cirque Polish because you can never have enough green holo nail polishes right ^_^  Can't wait till it arrives!
I've also placed my first order at Make Up Geek, I'll be sure to post about it when it arrives :)

That's all for today

Birthday Book Buying and Recent Wardrobe Additions

Today dad and I went into town to buy Mum a birthday present (it was yesterday, Happy Birthday Mumsie!). Dad and I were going to get her a book each but one of them that I had intended on buying couldn't be found for the life of us. So anyone we got her the one book and in the mean time part two of her present is on order and should arrive late next week.

This is what I wore; I couldn't resist jumping into my gorgeous new PVC skirt again ;)

Jacket - Saxony
T Shirt - Black Victory
PVC Skirt and Mechanical Legbone Leggings - Black Milk Clothing
Patent Combat Boots - Big W

And now my recent haul of clothing!

Black Milk PVC skirt

New Saxony shirt in blue-grey colour. Fits lovely, so comfortable I fell asleep in it.

My aunt was kind enough to pop these Peter Alexander slippers in the mail as a get well gift after my recent surgery; so cosy!

Another Saxony shirt, this one was featured in my last OOTD. A bargain on eBay at $10. Now that I've had my first taste of wearing men's fitted shirts, I never want to go back to women's. Finally, no tightness across the shoulders and sleeves that actually reach my wrists; the joy!

Skeleton Garters from Noctex; can be worn with the clips facing up or down either to keep dresses/skirts down or to keep socks up.

Plus there's the jacket in the above outfit pic, another ebay score BNWT, love it!

Anyway that's about all I have for today

OOTD feat. Kelly

So today Kelly and Luke popped in for a visit to say hello to little ol' housebound me and also so I could give Kelly part 2 of her birthday present (i.e. the part just from me) :D

After recieving quite a few new items lately I was keen to get some wear out of them as I haven't really had much of a chance, been on home detention and all after my surgery a few weeks ago. This is what I wore;

Men's black button up shirt - Saxony ($10 on ebay)
Black Satin jabot - FanPlusFriend
PVC Skirt and Chopin Black Leggings - Black Milk Clothing

I was quite fond of my outfit today, I'm IN LOVE with this skirt!

Kelly with her present! A new bag from Iron Fist, a brand she's rather fond of I hear. Also two new purple themed nail polishes from Australian-owned and run Lilypad Lacquer!

Happy Belated Birthday, Kelly!

That's all for now,

New Hair Curler!

So not too long ago I saw Ozsale had a bunch of different hair tools up for cheap on their website and after recently trying (and failing) to play around with my mum's old hair curler, I decided to buy my own. I dipped into my rego fund which was really naughty of me but since I've seen these clipless curlers a few times I've been dying to try one for myself. And oh my goth they are about 100 times easier to use than the regular clip ones.

The one I decided on was a 3-piece interchangeable-barrelled one from a brand called Herstyler. I think it was around $80 bucks which I thought was fairly reasonable. Thing is I looked up the product to read a few reviews and in the US you can get the same exact curler for around $30-$40 :/ But unfrtounately the sites I found with it wouldn't post to Australia, even if they had international shipping it wasn't a product listed with that option. Fuck you Australia and your taxes and just generally being expensive and your currently shitty dollar.

Here are some pics of it;

Cool tin that I now can't get everything back into >.<

Awkwardly looks a bit like a dildo 0.o

The 3 barrel size options.

And my hair after a play around with it!

I do need to practice a bit though as I gave myself a nasty burn near my elbow :(

Unfortunately this is what my hair does to curls if I don't prepare my hair prior to curling/hairspray them

I guess it was after seeing Gatsby recently (and struggling with the old curling iron we had) that really pushed me into buying my own. The movie was so awesome and everything about it was just so gorgeous! Hopefully I too will have pretty curled hair regularly now ^_^

Anyway, that's all folks
