Procrasta-bloggin'

So I have an inspection for my place tomorrow and I should be doing last minute tidying so obviously that means it's the perfect time to write a blog post :P

I haven't been posting as much lately, which is due to me actually doing some things...plus being kind'a not in the mood to do anything right now. I'm in a massive low at the present and really hit me quite hard after such an extended high (it was so fucking good but I think the whole never stopping for a breath and only sleeping about 4-5 hours a night for months on end really took its toll on my body).

So, some recent happenings;

I went to Sydney to see the National Theatre Live 'Frankenstein' production featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as Frankenstein's Monster and Jonny Lee Miller as the Doctor, and it was un-fucking-believable! It's based loosely on Shelly's novel of the same name.

I can't say I ever did well at drama essays so I know my descriptions of the production will not in one hundred years do it justice but holy fuck, so good. The physicality was such a stand out for me, the only other aspect that was really comparable was the amazing set design. But really...who the fuck can move that well?! Ergh, I just could gush all day but unless you'd also had seen it it wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Just prior to going in feat. Black Milk's Frankenstein's Monster Leggings ;)

Oh! Also should add that there's a tiny steampunk addition that kind'a came out of nowhere and was just phenomenal. I almost leapt from my seat in excitement when it came on screen. Sigh. it's the little things,.

 Fuck. Yes.

I'd also really like to make note of the lovely individual who played the Bride of Frankenstein, of whom I'm almost convinced is actually some supernatural being because I'm quite sure at some points she was floating a centimetre or two off the ground. She moved with such grace and elegance that had I not already been speechless I  most assuredly would have been rendered so by her mere presence.

My only real issue with it was some of the dialogue. I think the actors did iit much more justice than it deserved. I must say that it was a little..contrived and perhaps even corny at times? I dunno..It just wasn't up to par with the rest of the production. Otherwise though, perfection *kisses fingertips and tosses them upward*.

Chums; Richard, Rosemary and myself sitting in a random park in Newtown eating icecream and laughing after Frankenstein.

It was also really amazing seeing some of my friends again. Life and distance really seems to get in the way the older I get but it's comforting to know we're as comfortable around one another as ever.

Okay so what else is happening...Well, for one in Australia right now the weather is horrendous. Seriously, as someone who revels in winter and grins with delight as a bitter wind caresses my face as I walk the streets, this heat is fucking killing me. Ergh! I'm not someone who is commfortable showiing a lot of skin, both because I'm self conscious and because fuck, if I had to cover every inch of my almost 6' frame every day in SPF 50+ I'd be broke in a week. 'Dat shit's expensive, yo'! So, instead I embrace the Slip and Slap a little more than the slop, cladding myself in oversized, long sleeve men's shirts and hiding behind my sunnies and under the brim of my beloved new hat.

(For non-australians a little bit of context for you; we here being the sunburnt country in more ways than one have had a nationally recognised Sun Safety campaign for as long as I can remember that instructs people to Slip on a shirt, Slop on some sunscreen and Slap on a hat - although apparently this has recently been extended to include advise about finding shade and wearing sunglasses too.)

Hiding from the sun under the brim of my new FallenBrokenStreet hat. I really need a haircut.

My style at the moment I would most equate to something described in Macklemore's 'Thrift Shop' but if I manage to give skin cancer the slip, than zero fucks will be given to how mishmashed I look.

Furthermore a new shop opened up in this crap hole they call my town of residence and for once it's actually something I'm vaguely interested in! It's a militaria/adventure gear place and upon spotting it I was overcome with the desire to host a M*A*S*H themed party where you can only wear khaki or olive greens and/or scrubs and/or your bathrobe PLUS you can only drink out of canteens and/or martini glasses. Please, Cthulhu let me have one of these parties and have people actually interested in marathoning episodes of M*A*S*H with me :P (Luke, I'm looking at you).

The store was closed when I spotted it whilst killing some time before my train to Sydney earlier this month but I can't wait to come back to have a real look - Oh my Cthulhu, the things I could do with that pith helmet *heavy breathing*

I'm wondering if mmy veryy recent obsession with olive greens and khakis has been spurred on by this new discovery...Not sure...Don't care...Need. Moar. Olive. Greens.

Aaaaanyway, I've ranted and rambled enough for one post. I hope this was at least vaguely interesting. Lemme know, I need all the ideas and encouragement I can get right now, believe me.

Over and out my lovelies

Priceline Sale Haul and a Few Bits and Bobs

Hey all, hope everyone is doing well. I've started to hit a lot at the moment so I haven't really felt like blogging but haul posts are super simple so I chucked some photos up. I always feel a massive lack of inspiration when I sit down to the keyboard. Anyway, drop a comment below if there's anything you really like to see that might give me some inspiration for what to post. Maybe I'm just not into blogging any more :P

Moving on! Priceline had a 40% off sale for a few days this week so obviously I couldn't resist the urge to grab some stuff...More than I planned bu luckily I got a bit of extra work so it doesn't matter haha.

Haul!

'cause you can never have enough green eyeliner, right? :P

This has so much hype, we'll see how it goes.

The word 'butter' in the title kind'a got me

The next item is from a cute company actually in my region (or there abouts) called Kook Collars

Green wrapping paper - how did she know?! :D

Obviously wouldn't wear it with this outfit but you get the idea :P I really like it.

Someone on reddit photoshopped some eyebrows on me:P Whadda you all think? :P

The MomenT in dusty green - eeee!

 I'm so in love!

Trying out some of the new make up acquisituions. Forgive my lack of foundation - eek :P

That's all for today - did any of my fellow Aussies pick up anything at Priceline in their sale?

5 Things I Gotta Own Before the End of the Year (But I Probably Won't)

1. A Stylish and Practical Hat

It's only spring and already here where I live in Australia our daily temps are hitting the mid '30s (Celcius obvs) and as someone who is always hiding from the sun (I'm sure many of you reading this can relate), I'm always trying to find something to shield be from the damaging rays.

A little while ago I got a free style mag in one of my Bella Boxes that had a page of style inspired by M*A*S*H (obviously - this caught my attention as a huge fan of the show and the colour green haha). Featured was 'The MomenT' hat in dusty green (shown below) by Fallenbrokenstreet, an Aussie brand. I immediately fell in love with this hat and several others and have since been coveting them furiously.

 'The MomenT' by Fallenbrokenstreet

Here are a few others that I'd love to own:

 'The Dingo'

'The BaMbi'

There are heaps of really cute ones that I think would look amazing and add the finishing touch to an outfit whilst protecting your pretty face from the evil sun. So if you're the kind of person who likes hats, check 'em out.

2. Kat Von D's Studded Kiss Lipstick in 'Lovecraft'

I've never been a fan of KVD, I don't know enough about her to feel any way about her in fact but I mean...Come on...It's a beautiful dusty pink in a black studded bullet and best of all it's freakin' called 'Lovecraft'. I've been holding back the urge to find some way of getting myself a tube in case I'm able to grab one when Sephora FINALLY opens here in early December. Soon (hopefully), my precious...Soon...

3. More Night Vale Merch

Welcome to Night Vale takes over my life twice a month, I freakin' adore it; I'm obsessed with it and I want the world to bloody well know it.

These are a few things I've got my eye on in their store right now (but realistically I'd buy everything if I could)

Moonlight All-Night Diner Mug

Welcome to Night Vale grey hoodie

 All Hail Tee

4. A New All-Purpose Bag

My current satchel is around 7 or maybe 8 years old and is really starting to look a little worse for wear. I probably need to start thinking about replacing it and I'd like to get something in black this time, as the brown I had before definitely didn't always go so well with my attire. Would also like something a tiny bit wider so I don't have as much trouble fitting books/my kindle in my bag.

5. A New Computer

 Meep

This is something I need more than anything but it also happens to be more expensive than anything else I need/want. The kind of specs I want don't come cheap and I know that it'd probably be a lot better value for money to just build my own desktop but given my living environment it'd be difficult to work with a desktop (I don't have a desk for one thing). Sigh.  just wanna play new release games already! (I'm looking at you Dragon Age 3...)

The shit people make is just amazing..

Do you have a top 5 things that are just eating away at you to own?

Look What the Bat's Dragged in...to My Mail Box

I'm very fortunate to be friends with the very generous Kierra of Look What the Bats Dragged In, who sweetly grabs a few things from the Sydney Illamasqua store for me once in a while (if you ever happen to read this, Kierra, thank you so much!). She recently picked up some things from the Illamasqua 'Once' collection which I think came out some time nearing the end of August.

(Apologies for the even-crapper-than-usual photo quality)

 Cute :P

 Love the wrapping paper!

This is a cream eyeshadow - I've been slowly getting more and more into cream products lately and this one has just an amazing formula.

I love layering this over the Taupe Maybelline Colour tattoo cream shadow. I'm seriously thinking of investing in the other cream shadows from the Once collection.

 Love the packaging too.

 So smooth

Now this polish...Oh man. It's to die for. Illamasqua make my favourite polishes in the world but this colour is just breathtaking.

The colour is called 'Melange', sorry it may be hard to see in the photo

Kierra also managed to grab me the 'Elope' tester from the Illa store - the colour is my fav of all time and is now discontinued :(

I also got some bonus samples, I'm so spoilt :D

All the Illa products have pretty much become permenant members of my make up/nail routine. I may need to get a back up of Melange if they ever decide to discontinue it, which apparently Illamasqua love doing to things I regularly purchase from them. Sigh, anyway that's all I have for now.

Over and out lovelies!

First Sleek Purchase

Today I took the plunge and made my first purchase of a Sleek eyeshadow palette. The online cosmetic-obsessed community seems to have nothing but good things to say about their products and at such low prices it seemed time to take the plunge.

The one I have ordered in the one pictured above, Ultra Matte VS - lots of dark, cool toned colours, plus I prefer matte everything to be honest.

Can't wait for it to arrive!

What have your experiences with this brand been? I'd love to know.

That's all for now,

I'm Not Dead...Yet (Mecca Haul)

Sorry for the break in posting lovelies, things had a little bout of furious activity round these here parts and then there was nanowrimo and even social endeavours - phew, stuff...Tiring.

Anyway I thought I'd post a small haul I got from Mecca a few days ago because they're easy posts and people seem to like to see what other people buy for some reason :P (I do too, I don't understand it but I do). Anyway, here we go.

I ordered a few things I've had my eye on for ages

Nars velvet matte lip pencil in Train Bleu

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in 'Ethereal Glow'

 Purdy packaging

Reminds me of ice cream or something, I kinda wanna eat it haha. I already have the ALP in Ethereal Light and loved it. I tried this blush last night for the first time and it's so pretty and subtle, just the way I like blush to be.

Samples! The perfume sample - holy shit! So nice! I'm really, really fussy about perfume and rarely wear it but something made make choose this sample....The name reminded me of Fallout New Vegas and the scent is just the kind of thing that I like. I'm not good at describing scents but it is sweet, I can tell you that much. The images it conjured were a Black Widow type character, roving the wastes of the post apocolyptic Mojave - someone who watches you through her scope as she plans what to do with the things she loots from your corpse, purposefully positioning herself up-wind from you so that the last thing you notice before you die is a sickly sweet scent upon the gentle desert breeze..Ahhh. I think the only thing holding me back from purchasing a full size is the price :-/

Moving on..

Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme lipstick deluxe sample in 'Grace'

It's a pretty pinky nude colour but unfortunately I don't think it'd suit me because it has a peachiness to it and I can't wear anything peachy as it pulls very orange on my skin.

I haven't tried the other samples yet but hopefully will in the next few days...I love freebies.

Anyway that's all for now, have you done any recent purchasing? If so what? I wanna knowwwww
